Jelado 2 monkeys SPORTIF boots

Regular price €978,95

The 2 Monkeys boots “Sportif” are designed in the image of boots worn for hunting and outdoor activities in France around 1920-30. However, it is not a reproduction of any particular vintage boots. French with a moccasin-shaped toe design that was more prevalent in the United States at the same time, but has a historical connection to France, while using the details that were mainly possessed by European boots at the time. Vintage taste boots.

The leather is a French calf that fits comfortably on your feet. The leather is dyed in black hills, and the brown core that emerges as you wear it accentuates the changes over time.

The taste of the times is especially included around the bottom. By using the Goodyear Welt method for the trampling part and the McKay method for the heel from the waist, the style of the spade type sole with the waist narrowed down and beveled (*) is reproduced. A combination of a well-curved leather sole and a slightly pitched heel (**) is a detail often seen at the time, especially in European shoes. With a light single leather sole, the boots themselves are surprisingly light.

The moccasins on the toes are reminiscent of the deep connection between the Native American moccasins and France. (Details will be described later) By inserting a familiar thin leather toecap, you can enjoy the aging that sinks flat while you wear it.

From the end of the 19th century to the beginning of the 20th century, many European makers went to the United States to learn the mechanism of mass production of shoes. At that time, Europe, which has a long tradition, and the United States, which quickly set up a mass production system to respond to the rapid expansion of the population, had a mutual influence in shoe making. The boots “Sportif” of The 2 Monkeys is a new style of boots that is common to Europe and the United States, and was born from a French perspective.

(*) Bevel A method of covering the outstitch of the waist part of the sole bottomed by the Goodyear method by covering it with leather to emphasize the squeezing of the waist part. Even now, I occasionally see them in bespoke shoes. "Sportif" expresses the beveled waist style with the waist-heel McKay method.

(**) Pitched heel A heel with a linear taper from the sole to the installation surface. It is a detail often seen in European shoes at that time.

Leather: French calf (made by DuPuy)

Manufacturing method: Goodyear Welt manufacturing method (stepping part) + McKay manufacturing method (waist to heel)

Sole: Leather (with non-slip rubber)
