Description of item
This camouflage fabric was used by the US Army during World War II. It is known for being supplied to the Marine Corps, a rapid-response special forces unit. Such multi-colored camouflage patterns require a separate printing plate for each color used, and since multiple plates are used to layer the colors, it takes several times more time and effort than single-color dyed fabrics. Given the war situation at the time, it was understandable that this specialized fabric, unsuitable for mass production, was supplied only to specialized units. However, because of its superior camouflage effect, the Army considered using it throughout the entire army, but fortunately, the war ended before it could be implemented. An anecdote from that time tells of an incident where, when this camouflage was deployed, friendly fire occurred because it resembled the German army's spotted camouflage, leading to its hasty discontinuation.
