Take your tee game to the next level with the timeless and iconic Border Stripe Tee. Originating from the coastal town of Breton, France, and famously worn by Pablo Picasso and James Coburn, this tee has become a staple in warm weather fashion since the 1930s and 1940s in America.
Horizontal stripes have a long-standing history in fashion, originating from medieval Europe for its bold and captivating appeal. The modern tee version has a rich history, first worn by French sailors in the 1800s and then adopted by European designers like Coco Chanel before becoming a favorite of American casual wear, they including with bikers.
Made with 100% pre-shrunk Indian long staple cotton jersey woven in Japan, this fabric is the Goldilocks of tee weights, not too heavy nor too light but just right. And it’s soft too, really soft with an almost velvet-like hand feel that makes it a comfortable choice.
The neck is suitably snug, made of a chunky ribbed knit, but will stretch to fit and won’t hurt you in doing so. The tags are woven on vintage shuttle looms in Japan with a design based on a 1920s menswear store tag from Long Beach, California.
You don’t have to be a genius like Picasso to wear this shirt but you will look and feel like one with it on!
